Internship Title: Education and Events Intern

Reports to: Education Director, Tracy Page

Job Summary: The intern will work closely with the Education Director, and on occasion the Executive Director and Garden Manager on educational programming, special events, and other tasks. Duties will include helping to play and run nature playgroups, homeschool programs, monthly events, two weeks of an art & nature summer camp, plus additional weeks of adventure camp (summer interns).  They will also help with planning and curriculum design, clerical duties, and visitor studies. This is an unpaid internship. Working with your university to establish the possibility for college credit is an option. Applicants must have a strong interest in science, good communications skills and the ability to work with people of all ages.

Requirements: Applicants must be current or recent university students. Primary study areas could include education, recreation, environmental science, biology, etc. Internship dates are flexible but should include the summer camp weeks. Winter semester and fall semester internships are also available.

Interns must commit to a 6 week minimum, with no maximum; and a 10 hour/week minimum with a 40 hour/week maximum. The position can include some weekends and possible evenings. The intern must be self directed, able to work well with others and alone, and have good organizational skills and efficiency. Public speaking skills and customer service ability is needed. Free on-site housing is available; a security deposit is required and linens and kitchenware are the responsibility of the intern.
